Integrated Medium Term Plan

NHS Wales had asked all health boards to prepare and submit medium term plans to it for approval. Following this, In-Form Solutions was asked to develop and facilitate an integrated medium-term plan for one of the largest integrated health organisations in the country, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

This was a particularly challenging assignment as there was a short timescale for delivery, so it involved closely working with a significant of multi-function senior managers and clinicians as well as the finance, informatics and planning teams. We also worked with a number of external stakeholders, including NHS Wales and other Heath Boards, with the planning and delivery of the plan.

The assignment involved collecting and collating individual directorate plans, working with their teams and quickly pulling together an integrated plan for board approval and delivery to NHS Wales.

Our work included:

• Working with senior Directors and the Trust Board to formulate the strategy.
• Working closely with Directorate managers to formulate individual plans.
• Stratifying and collating individuals plans to help to formulate the Boards overall plan.
• Working with support teams within Finance, IM&T, Estates, HR etc to quantify and support the plan.
• Facilitating and completing the Integrated Medium-Term Plan (IMTP) for the Board.
• Delivering the plan to NHS Wales within a tight timescale.
• On-going commissioning support.

The key outcomes were the facilitation, development and completion of an integrated medium-term plan, which was successfully delivered within the required timescales.
